Bailey Pottery

Bailey Pottery is a national ceramics supply company headquartered locally in Kingston. Born out of a need for innovative tools to do his own work, Jim Bailey started the company in 1974, which quickly became a notable name in the industry. In addition to large machinery like wheels and kilns, Bailey Pottery sells supplies like clay, glaze, and all the tools a ceramicist could possibly need.
The Challenge
The folks at Bailey were rolling out a new product line and wanted to prioritize sustainability with their packaging materials. Specifically, they wanted to forgo any foam or plastic packaging altogether. The challenge was providing reliable protection in shipping while using more eco-friendly materials.
The Viking Solution
The Viking team used corrugated cardboard to solve Bailey Pottery’s sustainable shipping challenge. By utilizing custom-designed inserts that fit precisely with the products in Bailey’s new line, we were able to provide optimal protection without compromising on their green goals.
The Results
Using the custom corrugated inserts, the new line of products from Bailey Pottery has been shipped across the country with zero damage. Product protection wasn’t the only improvement–the Bailey team saw an increase in packaging efficiency. Workers were able to pack their products more quickly and easily. This saves time, which ultimately saves money! The benefits even extend to the end customer, who is able to dispose of the entirety of the sustainable and biodegradable packaging materials using standard curbside recycling. Everybody wins with corrugated!
