The company handles warranty repairs for Samsung code monitors, primarily used for gaming and desktop computers. Customers were returning monitors to Techeim for warranty service, but the monitors were often damaged during shipping back to the customer. The monitors came in three different sizes, and the existing packaging wasn’t providing adequate protection. Furthermore, Techeim was contracting with a prominent shipping company with retail locations nationwide to facilitate returns. However, there was a lot of variability between locations in how employees packaged the products, leading to inconsistent protection and an increased rate of damage.

The Viking Solution:

Viking provided Techeim Electronics with a custom foam block system designed to fit the corners of monitors of all sizes. Additionally, Viking introduced one standard-sized but adjustable telescoping box that could fit all the necessary monitor sizes. This robust and singular packaging solution ensured uniformity in protection and reduced the variability caused by different UPS store practices.

The Results:

The new packaging system significantly improved the protection of Techeim's monitors during shipping. The foam blocks and adjustable box reduced the damage rate, ensuring that products were returned to the customer in good condition. This change saved Techeim at least 50% in costs associated with damaged goods. Moreover, the streamlined packaging process enhanced customer satisfaction by ensuring their monitors were safely and efficiently returned after warranty service.
